A smile and brief ‘thank you’,
A short note to convey gratitude,
A message that says, “Thanks for always being there”,
A warm feeling of being loved and appreciated.

Pressing onwards to help those around;
those tired, stressed out, floundering.
To stretch out to offer a helping hand,
Offering a kind word or piece of advice.

Oh, you hypocrite,
Would you be so kind,
would you be so giving,
if no one ever said ‘thank you’?

This fellow's wise enough to play the fool,
And to do that well craves a kind of wit.
He must observe their mood on whom he jests,
The quality of persons, and the time,
And, like the haggard, check at every feather
That comes before his eyes. This is a practice
As full of labour as a wise man's art.
For folly that he wisely shows is fit;
But wise men, folly-fall'n, quite taint their wit.
