This fellow's wise enough to play the fool,
And to do that well craves a kind of wit.
He must observe their mood on whom he jests,
The quality of persons, and the time,
And, like the haggard, check at every feather
That comes before his eyes. This is a practice
As full of labour as a wise man's art.
For folly that he wisely shows is fit;
But wise men, folly-fall'n, quite taint their wit.
And to do that well craves a kind of wit.
He must observe their mood on whom he jests,
The quality of persons, and the time,
And, like the haggard, check at every feather
That comes before his eyes. This is a practice
As full of labour as a wise man's art.
For folly that he wisely shows is fit;
But wise men, folly-fall'n, quite taint their wit.

Hi Rebecca!
I stumbled upon your blog after Math HL Paper 2 today, when I was searching for grade boundaries to console myself. I never thought I’d see another Singaporean who applied to SOAS because of their interest in development. :) I applied to SOAS too, for the same reason. And I’m also very much in love with God so that is another thing we have in common. :)
I was accepted to SOAS too (BA Development Studies and Economics), but I won’t be going for financial reasons. I’m currently in Norway on a UWC scholarship (United World College) and it is the last three weeks we have in this place… quite a scary thought.
Anyway, I wish you all the best with whatever choice you make (maybe you have clicked the ‘ok’ button?) I pray that God will give you the peace in your heart when you consider clicking whichever button.
And I will assume that you will continue to live your dream to work in development, just as I hope to do so – and maybe we’ll meet on ‘the field’ one day and be able to share about how God has opened doors for us to make a difference wherever He sends us!
Take care, God bless and now I will go back to studying.
:) Sabrina

Hi Sabrina.
It’s certainly a small world. :) I got offered a place in SOAS for Politics and Development. But I’m now going to NUS and will probably go to SOAS for postgrad. Where are you planning to go now? A Singapore uni?
So where are you at? I assume that you were in an international school to be taking your IB exams now.
Take care too.

Haha… good guess Cher! :D It is I…
I am planning on going to SOAS on exchange either in spring semester 2009 or the whole of 2010. I’m now studying in Princeton… God opened some miraculous doors. I am grateful for that.
Take care,
Sabrina
